Profile: John and Elizabeth
“Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents for your child.”
Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents for your child. We are both excited to begin our adoption journey and cannot wait to be parents. We have friends who have been adopted and others who have adopted children as well. They have told us about the wonderful possibilities adoption brings. Our families are supportive and very excited for us to become parents. Our child will be the first grandchild on both sides.
Meet John and Elizabeth
“We were first introduced by our good friends at their “Friendsgiving” gathering in the fall of 2006. When they saw us sitting next to each other in matching Colts jerseys, they knew we were a match! We dated for 5 years before getting married in 2012 surrounded by family.”
John graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois and works as a Financial Analyst. Elizabeth attended college at Indiana University receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and English. She went on to law school to become an attorney. Both love their current careers.
In their free time, John and Elizabeth enjoy traveling together and spending time at Elizabeth's parents' lake house. They also love visiting different baseball parks around the country and are so excited to share these experiences with a child.
John and Elizabeth have a close-knit family, including their dog, Lucy. They enjoy spending time with their family and try to get together as often as possible. Family gatherings and holiday traditions are very important to John and Elizabeth.
John and Elizabeth are ready and prepared to welcome any child of any race into their family. They have attended a Transracial / Transcultural Training to learn about different cultural values and traditions. They would love to have an open adoption with their child's birthparent(s). They look forward to having visits and sharing updates with their birth mom.
JOHN ON ELIZABETH
“Elizabeth is friendly and very outgoing. She has the best laugh that is just contagious. We like to spend time together, yet still, spend time with friends and doing activities without each other. The qualities I appreciate about Elizabeth are her patience, professional motivation, and positive thinking. I feel that my greatest personal achievement is marrying Elizabeth. I know she is going to be a wonderful mother”
ELIZABETH ON JOHN
“John is quiet, goofy, playful, and very smart. We have a similar backgrounds and interests. We recognize when we’re at odds with one another and apologize freely. I appreciate how John is economical, cuddly, and likes to just hang out. John is going to be a terrific dad to our child. I know this because when I see him interact with our friends’ children, I become even more happy and excited for our future knowing what a great dad John is going to be!” John says, “I am hopeful that someday we will get to be parents and can’t think of a more loving and positive person to raise a child with.”
JOHN and ELIZABETH'S FAMILY
John and Elizabeth both grew up in the Midwest. Currently, John’s parents live in Florida and Elizabeth’s live on a lake in Indiana. They like to visit with family and take advantage of outdoor activities. John’s brother lives outside of Chicago with his adorable labrador retriever, Walter.
John and Elizabeth live in an older, but remodeled and updated home. It has 3 bedrooms on the second floor and an in-law suite in the basement for grandparents to use when visiting! The house is close to numerous parks, libraries, our church, and convenient to shopping, hospitals, and grocery stores. We especially love our house when it is decorated for the holidays.
Our community is made up of diverse people and families. Our neighborhood has many cultures, races, and beliefs, while maintaining a sense of inclusiveness. Elizabeth and John regularly spend time with friends from high school, college, theatre, work, and other volunteer activities.
John and Elizabeth have a positive view on the future for their child. They plan to send pictures and letters giving updates about their child to his/her birth parents. They feel this is something they can do for their child to provide a loving trust with their child and ensure the birth parent their biological child is growing and thriving in a loving, supportive and encouraging family. They are also open to visits at the agency.
